The past few weeks have been so hard y’all. They’ve left me reeling with emotions. I have been physically, emotionally and mentally drained. It’s been a broken down, runny mascara time full of a racing mind and a churning heart.
Then the events of last weekend happened. In an instant, our world as we knew it was turned upside-down. Again, my heart and mind churned. What once felt safe now we weren’t sure of. Everywhere we turn, we see it. The news, Facebook and even the little group of guys that gather at the corner store. It can sure feel overwhelming, especially for someone already overwhelmed.
Two days ago as I walked off of my Mama’s porch and into her yard, I heard a familiar voice. I walked further out into the yard and glanced up on the roof. There was my Dad, working away, singing a hymn.
And with that, God calmed my churning heart.
My Dad was singing He Lives, a hymn typically sang at Easter {actually my favorite Easter hymn}, but oh, how those words resonated with my heart at that moment in time.
If the past week has left your heart weary, churning and worried. Take a moment with me and read over these words.
I serve a risen Savior
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary,
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading,
Through all the stormy blast;
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.
