I.Like.Giving.

This is a campaign for a generous world because we believe a generous world is a better world for all of us. But we don’t want your money, we want your action. Live generously.

So if y’all have been around my blog for any amount of time, you know I have a heart for adoption. It is so so so important to me. I think it’s such an amazing blessing! Today, I found out about another thing that is amazing…

ILikeGiving.com has just launched with the goal to inspire intentional generosity. Part of their mission is to create short films that showcase the unique ways people give. They’ve created a short film about the Dennehy family from Virginia. This Christian family has twelve children, some of them adopted, some of them with special needs, and as a family friend says, “they look a mini United Nations!”.

One of the Dennehy’s kids recognizes he would have been left for dead—an armless, tiny orphan in Romania where defects are considered a sign of evil—if the Dennehys had not given him the gift of life. And now this boy gives people all over the world the gift of music. He plays the piano and the guitar with his feet y’all! I know, how amazing is that. It’s absolutely incredible and inspiring.

My fav line from the movie…”when you’re adopted it means your parents looked out into the whole world and chose you“. Yep, tears.

thankful…18/30

Today I am thankful to have a marriage where we still openly let each other know “you’re still the one”. That we are still willing to make each other feel special. That we can take the time to let each other know they are still a priority. And I am thankful for a husband that is not afraid to show that!

I am so very thankful for this mans heart. Let me give you a little example of this big, burly, tattooed mans heart. Over the summer, we went out to lunch as a family at a local pizza place. While we were eating, a less-than-cleanly man walked in. He was seated at a table not directly near ours, but close enough we could see/hear him. He was obviously hungry and cold. He ordered a cup of coffee and something small to eat, clearly concerned about cost. When we went to pay, my husband told the cashier that he wanted to pay for that mans meal as well. And I melted. His heart is so amazing. And I am oh-so-thankful that he’s mine.

I am thankful that I have someone that I am still deeply in love with, after nearly 18 years. I am thankful I have someone that is just as willing to work on our marriage as I am. I am thankful that our love, coupled with God’s grace, has seen us through good times and bad times. I am thankful that I have someone special to spend my life with.
