happy with a touch of sad…

today i’m totally excited that it’s wednesday…i’m off the entire rest of the week!!!  how awesome is THAT?!?!  oh yes, it rocks.  i’m a pretty lucky girl…

but along with todays happiness is a touch of sad…we take joey to the dr at 12 today to review his foot xrays and possibly get his cast put on.  if the foot is indeed broken then football season will be done for him.  i just feel horrible because he is so heart broken.  he has been practicing every week since the beginning of july and hadn’t missed a single practice until monday when he fell.  he just has this sad look on his face all the time and it’s breaking my heart.  i wish i could do something but sadly i can’t.  all i can do is support him and be there for him.  there is still a small shred of hope that it might not be broken…please say a prayer for him today.

friday night we are going to have a big night out at the HARMONY TRUCK PULLS…oh heck yes, ya’all know i wait for this night all year long!!!  i have not missed the truck pulls (except when they were rained out) for about 15 years. every year, faithfully, I am there at 6 when the gates open. i get my GOOD SEAT (which is completely necessary to view the truck pulls) and then we go grab something to eat. and the food at the fair, gosh, it is amazingly good. the air is crisp, the food is good, the trucks are loud….what could be better?!?! love me a full size dodge diesel with stacks ::sigh:: LOVE LOVE that truck!!! Gotta have some redneck in ya to love these pulls.  this year i’m taking my camera for some serious truck lovin’…here are some pics from years past…

some days…

lately there have been days where i desperately have been craving my life, the way it use to be…

…Sunday dinners after church at my mom’s house…
…sitting on the porch with mom and dad watching my babies play…
…joe and i discussing our future, babies names and growing old together…
…long shopping days in Altoona with my mom…
…camp days when the ENTIRE family came…

even as I’m typing this my eyes are welling up with tears. my life is changing slowly, day by day, and I’ve just now realized how much it has changed.

my parents are ageing, my children are ageing and so are my husband and myself. as much as i wish i could stop time, i know this is how the Lord planned “life” to be. we all grow older…routines change…people change…it’s life. why is that so hard for me to accept?

the unknown future weighs heavily on my mind some days, even though I know it shouldn’t. in those moments I pray for the Lord to give me the strength I need, the ability to give all my worries to him and be content with the life I have. I then think of just how lucky I am to have had the privilege to grow older with my parents, husband and children. and just how many people in the world don’t get this opportunity.

as much as i miss the life i had in years past, i would not trade what i have now for the world.  i have two of the best children in the world, i am so proud of them and the young people they are growing into.  joe and i are older but we have such a strong, grounded marriage.  and my parents, bless their hearts, have given me more in the past 34 years than they will ever realize.

hello new week…

this monday seems much much more tolerable…i think because i’m taking thursday and friday off.  so really i only have to be here 3 days this week 🙂  isn’t THAT a happy thing.  i’ve just had my fill of running here and running there…last week i think i spent like a whole 2 hours at home.  that tends to make me feel like i’m losing my mind.  so i will be off on thurs and fri…YES!!!

papa is coming down thursday and the kids are SO excited!!!  thursday evening we will go watch joeys game, it’s the first home game.  friday we’re all going to hang out with papa and then go to the harmony truck pulls friday night (minus jade…truck pulls are NOT her thing!).  saturday will be papas night out with the kids so joe and i will get a date night (outback…here we come!), sunday is church and then jades game that she cheers at (which translates to me being at the field for about 5 hours) then monday papa will go home and we probably wont see him again until christmas  🙁   i have some super yummy dinners planned for papa this weekend, so he better come with a hungry belly

we had a great time this past weekend…the game friday night was awesome and we won 42-22…the kids also had a great time walking around with their friends all evening.  saturday i actually got to spend some (much needed) time at home before doing a senior photo shoot.  and i also got to spend some (also much needed) time with my bestie bec.  i’ve been super missing her lately.  sunday we spent the better part of our day at the field for both peewee games.  it was a good weekend but it sure seemed to fly.
